I am the owner of Fleurdelis Landscape Design and since 2000 I have had the pleasure of designing and implementing a variety of gardens. The creation of a design, whether small or large is a process. Each garden has a character of its own; whether it is a courtyard, town, or country garden. I work very closely with the client in order to create a garden space that reflects their particular tastes, desires, and needs. While paying particular attention to creating a design that matches the client?s vision, I strive to maintain a plan that is both functional and sensitive to the natural surroundings. In this process I combine both the ideas of the client and the characteristics of the land to create a design that includes seasonal interest, plant selection and arrangement, garden construction, and soil and site analysis. I also work very closely with the contractors during the construction process to ensure quality in project installation. We strive to combine beautiful, low-maintenance; site-sensitive plant material with handsome site elements such as paths, patios, and stonework to create a unique garden space that is to be enjoyed for years to come.
I believe that native trees and shrubs form the most beautiful and appropriate setting for New England?s residential landscapes. (I also honor client favorites among the non-native flora.) Living in Asia and Europe for twenty years and observing different garden styles, I am now interested in a distinctively American idiom and have graduated from the Landscape Institute. Built projects include property master plans, native wildflower front yards, walls, terraces, entry gardens, a school butterfly garden, water features, drainage plans, and native berry borders. I do garden consultations, master plans, area plans, invasive plant identification and removal, and project management. I*^*m an eight-year member of Lexington*^*s Town Tree Committee, and advisor to Lexington High School landscaping on trees.
Since 1997, I have created and directed the installation of landscape designs at private homes and historic estates. Projects range from modest garden spaces to comprehensive master plans, including perennial, rose, herb and bulb gardens, bird gardens, shade gardens, wetlands, pool and water features, seascapes, foundation plantings, patios, pathways and entranceways. Regardless of the scope, designs are created to harmonize with the historical context and physical characteristics of the surrounding landscape. Design services include consultations, site analysis, master plans, planting plans, customized garden maintenance plans, and supervision of installation. All services are tailored to the specific tastes and needs of each client.
