Betsey Mayer is an artist and an experienced Landscape Designer who designs, installs and cares for gardens for clients who want to enjoy plants and nature around their home. Recent requests include such components as play space and space for adults, privacy yet ease of access, to be restful and yet colorful, to attract birds and have all season interest. I like a profusion of plants with visual order, and prefer clear geometry in paths and shape of beds with full plantings of varied textures from groundcovers to mature trees. We design the built elements as well as plantings. Since we do maintenance we know how to optimize the effective use of plants yet minimize the maintenance requirements.
Bevins & Company Landscape Design is a group of individuals that design for residential clients We love the interaction of client, site discovery and design skills. Special spaces, perennial gardens, shade gardens, terraces and water features are components of our work. We strive to have the dreams of the client play out in the landscape in which they live. We also are specialists in Rain Harvest Technologies, utilizing designed rain storage systems to supply irrigation needs and decorative fountains. We also design and install rain gardens or french drain systems.
My company provides a range of services, from a one-hour garden consultation/idea session, to the design and planting of a new perennial border, to the development of an entire master plan for the property. I work with landscape contractors and masons, and can oversee the whole project to your liking. My work has been in greater Boston primarily, and I have many repeat clients.
I believe that small garden spots are as valuable as large properties, and that every outdoor space has the potential to be used and enjoyed more.
I am committed to incorporating sustainable design elements whenever possible, including: an emphasis on native plant material, the use of permeable pavement materials, and water capture and re-use.

I have been creating residential landscapes in the suburbs of Boston since 1997. The landscape is a place that must be functional and practical, as well as beautiful and inspirational. It is my design goal to integrate your home and garden by creating welcoming entryways, ease of movement, privacy, outside living spaces, garden spaces, and safe play areas. Plantings are designed with four seasons of interest using flower and foliage together. I strive to respect the natural processes of soil, water, plant, and animal life while creating sustainable and healthy outside environments. Working in collaboration with the client, it is my goal to create a landscape that uses the property to its best advantage considering the client?s individual lifestyle. Whether simple or complex, together we may turn a garden vision into reality.
I am the owner of Fleurdelis Landscape Design and since 2000 I have had the pleasure of designing and implementing a variety of gardens. The creation of a design, whether small or large is a process. Each garden has a character of its own; whether it is a courtyard, town, or country garden. I work very closely with the client in order to create a garden space that reflects their particular tastes, desires, and needs. While paying particular attention to creating a design that matches the client?s vision, I strive to maintain a plan that is both functional and sensitive to the natural surroundings. In this process I combine both the ideas of the client and the characteristics of the land to create a design that includes seasonal interest, plant selection and arrangement, garden construction, and soil and site analysis. I also work very closely with the contractors during the construction process to ensure quality in project installation. We strive to combine beautiful, low-maintenance; site-sensitive plant material with handsome site elements such as paths, patios, and stonework to create a unique garden space that is to be enjoyed for years to come.
